Host Louie Saenz talks with Dr. Z. Anthony Kruszewski and Professor Beata Halicka. A new book by Beata Halicka, Ph.D., about retired political science professor Z. Anthony Kruszewski, Ph.D., focuses on Kruszewski's exploits as a Polish resistance fighter during World War II and his 50 years as an internationally known, award-winning educator at UTEP.
Dr. Kruszewski, who battled the Nazis during World War II as a member of the Polish Underground, continues to teach at UTEP despite officially retiring in 2015. A longer version of this conversation will air on the KTEP Book Club in the coming weeks.
Beata Halickawas a professor of contemporary history at the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poland and a visiting professor at UTEP. She is the author of six books and numerous articles and the editor of many collective publications. Her research interests are: social history and culture of East Central Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries, nationalism und forced migrations in Europe, Polish diaspora in the world, constructions of identities in border regions, German-Polish relations, issues relating to the culture and politics of remembrance.
