EL PASO PRIME TIME: Colorectal Cancer; The Temperamentals

Host Dennis Woo talks with Dr. Navkiran Shokar of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC).  Dr. Shokar talks about colorectal cancer awareness and why this disease s entirely treatable and even preventable with the proper screening.  She talks about Accion, an outreach program developed by TTUHSC to increase awareness about colorectal cancer screening to senior centers, churches, clinics, and uninsured members of the community.  Learn more at http://www.ttuhsc.edu/fostersom/accion/default.aspx, or call 915-745-4496.

In the 2nd half of the program Dennis talks with April Perez of the Metropolitan Community Church of El Paso.  The church is presenting a fundraising performance of the Jon Marans play "The Temperamentals," which focuses on gay political activism in the 1950s.  Funds from the performance will go to the construction of a new church building.  The performance is Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m., at the El Playhouse, 2501 Montana.  Ticket information is available by contacting Beverly Cotton at cottonbeverlyk@aol.com, or April Perez at aaperez4@miners.utep.edu
