When I was first offered the job of producing All Songs Considered not long after it started in 2000, NPR couldn't guarantee me the show would be around for more than a year. After all, it was an experiment: an Internet-only, streaming music show in an era when most people were still on dial-up connections that couldn't handle much more on a page than text and photos.
Sixteen years later, All Songs Considered is still here and we're ready to party. To mark the milestone, co-host and show founder Bob Boilen and I (and the rest of the NPR Music team) are throwing a bash at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. and we want you to come. Bob and I will be there, and there will be live performances from artists who've meant a lot to us over the years, including Sharon Van Etten, Dan Deacon and several other surprise guests we're pretty sure you're going to love.
The date for the celebration is Jan. 13. We'll open doors at 7 p.m. and the show will get underway at 8. You can buy your tickets right now from the 9:30 Club for what we hope will be a memorable night for everyone.
