ACT RADIO: Locavore Movement

Greg, Liz, and Tom talk with James McWilliams, agricultural historian and author of "Just Food: Where Locavores get It Wrong and How We can Truly Eat Responsibly."  McWilliams talks about the negatives to localizing food systems, including the cruelty behind slaughtering animals for food.  He also explains why the locavore movement is often less about food than it is an anti-globazation protest.  McWilliams also talks about the saga of Bill & Lou, two oxen at Green Mountain College in Vermont, who sparked an international debate over sustainable agriculture and the eating of animals.  Part 1 of a 2-part interview. http://james-mcwilliams.com   Aired Dec. 9, 2012.
