Noemi Herrera Rojas is a longtime newspaper journalist, writer, public relations specialist and advertising copywriter with a niche interest in the life sciences, healthcare, education and families. Married for 10 years and a mother of two small children, Noemi currently serves as the director of communications for the Medical Center of the Americas (MCA) Foundation. Upon joining the MCA in 2010, her first course of action was to create and develop the region’s first-ever life sciences e-publication, Synapse, of which she is the chief editor.
Prior to the MCA, Noemi worked as a senior public relations specialist with the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) where she provided PR services to the university’s five life science academic units. Journalism is where Noemi began her career, having worked for several daily newspapers around the country including The Kansas City Star (Missouri), the St. Cloud Times (Minnesota), the El Paso Times, and the El Paso Inc. She has written about healthcare and families, medicine, K-12 education, higher education; as well as entertainment, crime and breaking news.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Texas at El Paso. Her husband is attorney Raymundo Rojas, her daughter Brisa is 7, and her son Silas is 5.
